Pediatric TORVAD

A miniaturized version of the TORVAD is in development that is tailored to the needs of pediatric heart failure patients. This pediatric TORVAD incorporates design optimizations to reduce the size of the device to aid implantation and also has a smaller stroke volume tailored to patients approximately 5-15 years old. Few devices exist or are in development compared to the adult market, as there are relatively few patients comparatively. Development is made possible through the support of an National Heart, Blood, and Lung Institute (NHBLI) NIH-SBIR grant awarded in 2015.
